Together Shaping Singapore's Future of Mobility: The rising of the Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CAV) is part of the bigger plan to increase connectivity in our multi-modal transportation system and to improve the safety and efficiency of road travel. It will revolutionize the way commuters use vehicles and operators provide services. It will also transform the environment in which it operates. It does come with challenges such as creating a robust IT infrastructure to process and protect the huge volume of data.

Jointly-organised by IES EECETC and SUTD. In this Talk, research on the design and development of artificial intelligence (AI)-based systems with autonomous learning properties will be presented. Specifically, a variety of AI-based learning methodologies, which include neural networks, fuzzy systems, and evolutionary algorithms, for data modelling, inference with human linguistic knowledge, and multi-objective optimisation, will be explained.
Good contract administration is required to manage design specification, contractual agreement, competitive tendering, evaluation, cost control, variations, final accounts, claims and even disputes, this will eventually helps to reduce construction costs.A building project, whether under design build contract or conventional contract type, has to undergo three specific stages namely, design, tender and construction. In all three stages, good contract administration is required to manage design specification, contractual agreement, competitive tendering, evaluation, cost control, variations, final accounts, claims and even disputes. Poor management in any of these aspects would lead to unnecessary claims and disputes and eventually higher construction costs.

It is a mandatory WSH training course for all workers working in the construction industry. Construction workers are required to attend and pass the course before they start work at the worksite. At the end of the course, the trainees should be able to recognize safety hazards at construction sites, explain preventive measures to be adopted, practice safety measures when working at heights, follow safety signs and observe safe work procedures. The course also aims to educate trainees on their rights and responsibilities as construction workers in Singapore.
Gas pipelines play an integral support role in the transmission of power. Similarly, electricity cables serve as an important link in supplying reliable transmission and quality power to consumers. Hence, adhering to good practices in cable and gas pipe damage prevention during earthwork, is critical to prevention of disruption to power supply, potential financial loss and delay in project delivery. The Registered Earthworks Supervisor course aims to provide an overview of the relevant earthworks legislation and code of practice relating to construction earthworks carried out in the vicinity of the electricity cables/ gas pipes. Participants will learn about the key requirements of the relevant legislation, control measures and good practices to prevent damage to the underground cables, gas pipes and services. Case studies will also be discussed.

Safety in construction sites is of paramount importance not only to protect oneself but also to ensure safety for fellow site personnel on site. This programme is for stakeholders in construction projects (Resident Engineers, Resident Technical Officers, Site Supervisors etc) and it discusses essential concepts for construction safety of the various site operations commonly executed in a construction project. It also explains hazard identification and control for daily site activities.Participants will be able to supervise and/or carry out daily site operations with a focus on safety. They are able to identify hazards related to various site activities and take steps to control risks arising from such hazards.

Practice of Professional Engineering Examination has been implemented for a number of years. Engineers find the scope of the subjects is very wide, very often engineers do not know how to approach and prepare for the examination. This course is to give the broad view and the purposeful meaning of the examination; to identify the common mistake and weakness in the candidates who responded to the exam questions. This course is aim to assist Engineer in preparation of both Part 1 & Part 2 of the Examination.

Construction industries in Singapore are highly regulated especially in relation to safety health and environment. It is therefore very essential that the key stakeholders including site supervisors (REs & RTOs) in the engineering building construction (ECB) industries are equipped and acquainted with up-to-date knowledge of the legal aspects of Workplace Safety, Health and Environment and are fully aware and conscious of their legal responsibilities and liabilities in order to carry out their work & duties diligently, carefully and effectively. This particular module will provide participants with an up-to-date essential knowledge of Singapore's laws and regulations on site safety, health & environmental requirements relevant to the EBC industries and the legal responsibilities and possible of site supervisors.
