A good geotechnical monitoring instrumentation system with proper protection, recording and data analysis could avoid catastrophic site incident. These instrumentations play an important role in the safety monitoring especially during the construction stage. The recorded data are also useful for design verification. Therefore, it is of foremost importance that engineers should be equipped with the knowledge on the different functions of geotechnical instrumentations, their installation method and how the readings are taken so that they could better plan and design the system to get their desired data. This course will cover this essential knowledge and also the skill to interpret the readings obtained, the good practices in installation of the instruments and the statutory requirements.

Geographic Information System (GIS) applications are in great demand nowadays due to many of their value-added services. To generate any recommended solution using GIS applications, there must be accurate data collected by the land surveyors. In addition, the development of many new challenging construction and civil engineering projects also requires a higher level of service from the land surveyors. The part-time Diploma in Geo-Spatial Information and Technology which was developed in collaboration with Singapore Institute of Surveyors and Valuers (SISV) offers graduates the integrated domain knowledge of various surveying techniques and GIS applications with the use of latest technology and equipment. This diploma creates a unique opportunity for graduates to venture into different aspects of the surveying services. With this, graduates are able to begin or advance their career further in the surveying and geospatial profession.

There is an increasing demand for knowledge-based skilled workforce as the industry restructures itself following the transition of our nation into a knowledge-based economy. A new generation of knowledge-based specialist subcontractors, supervisors or Resident Technical Officers who possess adequate practical skills and technical knowledge is needed. They will have the skills to supervise construction workers directly in this new economy to ensure that construction sites are safe, highly productive with good quality standards. The Diploma in Construction Engineering is accepted for registration as a Resident Technical Officer under the Building Control Act.

Singapore experiences the highest incidence of lightning strikes in the world. These lightning strikes have caused major disruptions to main systems equipment and considerable damage to building structures. Understanding of lightning phenomenon and proper setup of lightning protection system are critical for the protection of lives, properties and equipment. The 2-day course aims to provide participants with an understanding of the effects of lightning and various lightning protection methods for building structures. It will also cover various analytical methods for the performance assessment of lightning protection systems.
CORENET e-Submission System (eSS) is a G2B (Government to Business) Internet-based system that allows industry professionals to submit their projects related documents electronically to regulatory authorities for approval without the constraints of time, nor physical distance. It is a one-stop, non-stop convenient point of access for round-the-clock submission via the internet, converges all regulatory application requirements, from development & building plans compliance, to building maintenance and certification of statutory completion. The System is designed to handle all plan and documentary submissions and approvals across the whole building project life-cycle, including: 1) Processing of documents related to issuance of planning approvals 2) Building plans approval 3) Structural plans approval 4) Temporary occupation permit 5) Certification of statutory completion 6) Fire safety certification

The VDC certificate program was first introduced in 2008 by the Stanford Universitys Center for Integrated Facility Engineering (CIFE). The intended outcome of the program is to enable industry professionals to effectively apply VDC to obtain higher return for their businesses and capital projects. To date, hundreds of participants in North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia including Singapore have benefited from the program, many of whom have successfully implemented VDC in thier projects. The Stanford CIFE-BCA Advanced Management Program in Virtual Design andConstruction comprises four modules to be delivered over a 8-month period.
