The Collaborative Alliance Conference (CAC) is a continuation of the previous BOA-ACES Conferences in 2017 and 2018. The inauguration of this new conference reflects accurately the aspiration of collaboration. The sector contributes significantly to the positive transformation of the physical landscape and the socio-economic development of the nation. It also contributes significantly to the well-being of our community. The launch of the Industry Transformation Maps comes with initiatives for deepening partnerships between the private and public sectors. There are also calls for greater integration across the various sectors in the industry. Integration will bring about synergies, with hopes to shift mind-sets towards organizing resources. In turn, the quality of jobs will be elevated, and people will be upskilled. Innovation and internationalization will help us to remain competitive in the future global economy.Discussion Theme:1. As the world undergoes its third industrial revolution, we are experiencing advances in new technology that will transform the way we live, work and play. Digital Transformation is the big megatrend that is changing the way we look at buildings. By harnessing the connectivity of the Internet of Things and rethinking the ways we can combine the intelligence of humans with the power of technology, we will then be able to create smart and green homes for all.

Buildings need to be designed properly and built safely. Industry stakeholders are required to comply with the building regulations and adopt good practices when carrying out building works to ensure construction works are properly designed and carried out without compromise to structural safety, or cause damage to surrounding properties.This session aims to highlight the importance of building safety compliance. BCA will share the upcoming building control initiatives as well as good practices for both the design and construction of building works. A preview of a newly developed design guide on the use of Grade B600 high strength reinforcement in reinforced concrete structures will be shared.

THE BCA DESIGN & ENGINEERING SAFETY AWARDS 2020 give recognition to the Qualified Person for Structural Works [QP(ST)], QP(ST)s firm and the project team for ingenious design processes and solutions in overcoming project challenges to ensure safety in design, construction and maintenance of building and civil engineering projects locally and overseas.
